We often – if not constantly – discuss the gender gap in tech. As the issue draws more and more attention (and action) from the industry, it's easy to feel like we're making progress. And while it's important to take time to celebrate the wins and progress, it's just as, if not more, important to see where we still need to improve.

Knowing your value, and sticking to it, while in the salary negotiation process can be one of the most daunting aspects of job hunting. And as this new study from Carta shows, women have been left behind in one crucial aspect: equity.

Women are still paid 20 percent less to the dollar than the average male salary. But the gender gap in equity is even greater. How have you negotiated your shares in past job negotiations? What are your goals for your next compensation package?
