Short And Sweet TGIF

TGIF! This week we're keeping things short and sweet. One article, one podcast, and one video. Check out what's going on for women in STE(A)M this week and let us know what you think!

Check back at the end of each week for our Friday finds.

Here's what we're reading – May 11

  • Read: Breakingviews - Closing tech’s gender gap will take decades by Jennifer Saba for Reuters. With their current diversity and inclusion initiatives, it will take tech giants like Facebook, Google, and Apple will take at least 15 years to close the gender gap at their companies. This piece examines ways to expedite the process. What do you think?
  • Listen: Women in STEM Podcast by Bob Barrett for WAMC Public Radio. We know that there's a push to encourage girls to pursue studies in STEM, but what happens when they become women? This podcast looks at the challenges facing women in STEM and how they're overcoming them.
  • Watch: Supermodel Karlie Kloss' videos showcase brilliant women in tech by Katie Collins for CNet. Following up on her Kode with Klossy code camps, Karlie Kloss is continuing to support and inspire girls and women in tech with a new video series, called Trailblazers of STEAM to showcase the work of eight women in tech and science who are pushing boundaries in their fields.
